The Gospel of Jesus Christ is that humankind has sinned, which is to do wrong against God, and because of that we are all justly condemned to eternity in Hell. God is a just, righteous, and holy God who cannot let sin go unpunished. But the Good News is that God is also at the same time a forgiving, merciful, gracious, loving God.
Owing to God’s great love for us, He does not desire anyone to be condemned to eternity in Hell. So, God became a Man, Jesus Christ, who is fully God and fully Man, to pay the penalty for our sins on our behalf. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:16-17).
Jesus calls us to repent today, for ‘now is the day of Salvation’ (2 Corinthians 6:2).
